Super Mind
Hello. My name is Norm Rosenthal. I’m a psychiatrist, researcher and author. I’m delighted to be telling you a little about my latest bestselling book Super Mind. Like a previous book of mine Transcendence, it also deals with Transcendental Meditation but this one actually goes much beyond the earlier book. When I had finished writing Transcendence I thought I had said all that I needed to say on the subject of meditation, but I was wrong. As I continued to practice meditation, I found to my amazement and delight that consciousness began to grow. The blissful transcendent experience that normally begins during one’s meditation practice actually starts to filter into ones daily life. And all kinds of good things follow. There is a stillness in the presence of activity, an ease of which we do things that helps us be more creative, more productive, more available to other people and more available to ourselves. We listen better which for me as a psychiatrist is a very good thing, but really all of us could benefit from listening better. The voices in our own mind are still and we’re able to open up to other people and to what’s going on in the world outside. All this because we’ve taken two periods during the day to let ourselves slow down and access our transcendent consciousness through the practice of meditation—and now we are reaping the benefits throughout the day.
Super Mind, which incidentally is based on a survey of over 600 people, I characterize the state of consciousness I am calling the super mind. I described how it helps us to get into the zone, how it helps us to grow as people, and to be more authentic and how not to be afraid of things that we had been previously. I describe how it helps us to be more engaged with other people, but also when the time comes when we need to pull back, it helps us to do that as well. So the many gifts of this new state of mind are actually summarized by the title of the book Super Mind. Through the practice of meditation we can expand our potential, reach our maximum capacity and enjoy life to the fullest. That’s why I called the book Super Mind and I’m really really excited to be sharing it with all of you.
