"The pain of depression, anxiety and other emotional
disturbances is as real as physical pain. It deserves
to be understood, studied, treated, healed, and reimbursed
by insurance just like the pain of any other illness."

NEW Dr. Rosenthal interviewed by Katie Couric on the Today Show (4.2 MB WMV)
Through
his research, writings, speaking engagements and private practice,
Dr. Norman Rosenthal has been a voice of hope for those
suffering from depression and emotional distress. His pioneeering
work in the field of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and
phototherapy created a revolution in the identification and
treatment of seasonal depression.
In his Private Practice, Dr. Rosenthal works with many different
treatment modalities, both conventional and complementary.
These include pharmacological approaches (He is a member of
the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology), different
forms of psychotherapy and a range of "alternative"
treatments, many of which have a solid scientific basis. He
maintains that when it comes to treating emotional difficulties,
there is no single solution that is right for everyone and
tries to customize his approach to each individual's issues
and needs.
Dr. Rosenthal is the Medical Director of Capital
Clinical Research Associates (CCRA), a group that evaluates
the effects of new medications on a variety of emotional issues.
If you are in the Washington, D.C. area and are interested
in participating in a clinical trial, please feel free to
contact us at CCRA by calling 301-770-7375.
In addition, Dr. Rosenthal is an accomplished public speaker
and author. He has written books on seasonal depression, jet
lag, St. John's Wort, and the science of emotions. His book,
Winter Blues is a veritable survivor’s manual for those
suffering from seasonal changes is due out in its third edition
Fall of 2005.
He has also been internationally recognized for his work
in depression research and is listed as one of The Best
Doctors in America and in the Guide to America's Top
Psychiatrists.
But his greatest accolades come from those he has helped -
"Your book changed my life, perhaps saved my marriage, and certainly improved the quality of our family time."
-
Ladonna B.
"For years my mood and energy dropped with the leaves, and I felt ashamed and
saddened by my inability to control my winter depression. Dr Rosenthal's book, Winter Blues,
gave me the tools to effectively treat SAD. Now my winters are productive and happy."
-
Eliza B.
"Thanks to Dr. Rosenthal and his work, I can now lead a full and happy life all year around."
-
John K.
"Emotional pain can almost always be lessened; and joy can almost always be amplified." |
